The essence of this contemporary residence located just outside Treviso lies in the strong material and chromatic contrasts and the intricate play of light that have been created thanks, in part, to the use of simple, minimalist materials such as cement, light wood and basalt. The interior is distinguished by a series of spacious, welcoming rooms: neutral, essential spaces in which oak wood sporadically appears and which are continually bathed in both natural and artificial light. The rooms are spread over two levels: the first includes all the living and sleeping areas, while the second, upstairs, is devoted to leisure activities and socializing, and includes a swimming pool surrounded by a wood-panelled solarium as well as an outdoor kitchen with a cement table.
And playing off the classic, stark contrast between black and white, the house is divided by a black wall that serves as a filter between the sleeping and living areas, much like a theatrical backdrop. The criterion for the interior is the independence of every single element, which is achieved through an organic distribution where which the individual spaces, colours and basic volumes are placed in relation to each other.
The large area allotted for the kitchen and living room is completely white: walls, furniture, light fixtures and ceilings seem to merge and blur. The floor, a smooth surface, contributes to creating the all-encompassing sensation of luminosity that characterizes all the rooms. The interplay of reflecting surfaces and the series of white, shiny and at times transparent walls succeeds in evenly distributing the natural light, giving the rooms the effect of an over-exposed photograph.
A sharp contrast appears when one goes through the door in the black wall that leads to the bedrooms of the house, an area which is conceptually quite similar to that of the living areas, except that it uses colours that are more conducive to rest and sleep.
The difference between the two halves of the house is emphasised by the floors in each: light-coloured resin on one side, and light wooded boards on the other.
Climbing the resin and wrought-iron staircase lit by a large frameless glass skylight, one reaches the floor devoted to leisure activities and home entertainment. A central vestibule divides the pool on one side, surrounded by a large wooden platform, and the outdoor kitchen on the other: all multifunctional environments that make this house an elegant meeting place, ideal for socializing, and at the same time a domestic refuge guaranteeing privacy and intimacy.
